Chest Shops

Chest Shops use chests and signs to allow any user to sell or buy any item in exchange for money at any given time. Simply set up the chestshop by following this tutorial, stock it with the item you’re planning to sell, and anybody can buy/sell items from your shop by interacting with the sign. You decide both buy and sell prices when setting up the chestshop, and you can also set the shop to sell/buy mode only.

You can also hold shift while interacting with another players shop, to buy/sell stacks at a time.

This is how you set up a chestshop:

  1. Place a chest.

  2. Place a sign on a block adjacent to the chest, or on the chest directly like in the image.

  3. Now you have to write things on the sign.

Leave the first row blank - it will have your name on it when you are done setting up the shop. On the second row, write how much of the item you are selling or buying per purchase. On the third row you will be writing the buy and/or sell prices. If you want to offer something for people to buy, write B followed by how much each purchase will cost. If you also want to buy things from people, you can write a colon followed by S and how much you will pay. For example: B 10 : S 5

People can buy for $10, or sell for $5. If you only want to sell/buy you can simply write one or the other, without a colon. (Note: the order you put the letters and the numbers do not matter, so long as the correct number is together with the correct letter. If you accidentally put the sell price higher than the buy price, chestshop will automatically prevent the shop from being created.)

The fourth row will state what item you are selling. Here you can pick in between writing the name of the item, you can use the command /iteminfo to see what the correct name for each individual item would be, but the easiest way of writing this line, and especially useful if you are selling an item with , simply stock the chest with the item in question in beforehand, and then put a "?" on the last row. This will automatically put whichever item is in the chest as the item on the final row. You can also hold shift and right click with the item on the sign afterward if you did not stock it in beforehand.

The shop in the following image is set up so that you may purchase 1x diamond for $10 each by right clicking, or alternatively sell them for $5 each by left clicking.
