A Town is a group of players, (at least 1) under a certain name. Towns have the abilities to take chunks from the wilderness that protects them from so called .
The owner of a town is called a Mayor. The mayor has access to everything inside the town, such as managing its funds, plots, or residents duties via town roles.
To create a town, run /t new <town name>, and to invite players to your town, simply run /t add <player>.
In order to claim land, you must have the required amount of funds inside your town bank, to determine the amounts of funds needed to claim a chunk will be listed in /towny prices. To view your town balance, run /town.
After verifying you have enough funds to claim land, you must stand on the chunk you want to claim, and type /t claim to claim the chunk. After you claim the chunk, it will be added to your town's territory and you may turn it into a . To clearly view the radius of the chunk you are in, you can run /chunkview, additionally to see a whole map over nearby chunks in the chat, run /towny map.
Eventually, you will run out of claim space, and need to purchase more with /t buy bonus (amount), or gain more residents inside your town and / or join a .
There are numerous town ranks that can be assigned to members inside your town, via /t rank <add/remove> <player> <rank>
, these roles are: Mayor, Co-Mayor, Governor, Police & Architect. All of these roles also have the permissions of the Default role, which all members that do not have any special rank carry. Additionally there is a Nomad role, which you are assigned if you are not a part of a town.
Mayor is the founder of the town and in control of everything, and are even exempt from tax.
Co-Mayor is the second highest role, and have all permissions except the power of deleting the town, Co-Mayors are also exempt from taxes.
Governors is the highest role in a town except from the mayoral roles, they have permission to claim land, invite new members, and have the permissions of Police & Architect.
Police has the power to outlaw outsiders.
Architect has access to edit all plots, regardless if they are owned by someone else.
Default has the ability to purchase plots for sale, edit their own plot, declare the riot war type, reclaim the town in the case in which the town has fallen into a ruined state, they may also leave the town, check who is online, and use the /money command.
Every town is forced to pay for town upkeep, which scales by the more land you claim. To pay for town upkeep, you must add money into your town bank with /t deposit (amount).
The current upkeep is $1 per plot owned per day. You also gain further upkeep if you own more townblocks then your town can handle, if you for instance lose members or leave a nation. The upkeep also increases slightly the higher town milestone you reach. You can always see a list of prices in /towny prices.
Permission types are separate types of actions that users can do inside of your territory.
Build - Permission to build blocks inside your territory
Destroy - Permission to destroy blocks inside your territory
Switch - Permission to use objects such as doors, trapdoors, fence gates, chests, shulkers, barrels, minecarts, boats, etc.
Itemuse - Permission to use items inside your territory, such as adding bonemeal to crops, leading animals to fences, empty/refill buckets, etc.
Permission Roles are the classification of users configurable in-game with Permission Types.
Resident - What Permission Types standard Residents have permission to do inside your territory.
Nation - What Permission Types standard Nation Residents (Residents of separate towns inside the same nation) have permission to do inside your territory.
Ally - What Permission Types Allied Residents (Residents of an allied foreign nation) have permission to do inside your territory.
To set general town permissions you must type the command /t set perm <permission roles> <permission types> <on/off>
There are two extra permissions you can give to players who aren't inside your town, one of which is outlawing, the other is trust.
Outlawing players removes their ability to pearl inside your town territory and disables their ability to teleport away, it also will force them into a jail plot if killed inside your territory. They can also not join your town if they are outlawed and your town is open, and if a resident gets outlawed they get kicked from your town. Outlaws can be added using /t outlaw add <player> and removed with /t outlaw remove <player>.
Trusting players allows them to build, destroy, and itemuse (opening chests, etc.), inside your territory. Trust can be assigned to both residents and outsiders. You can trust users by doing /t trust add <player>
Towns can be toggled as open or closed (Toggled closed by default). Having an open town allows all outsiders to join your town with no application or invitation, having a closed town only allows members who have an invitation access to join the town.
You can toggle if your town is Open or Closed with /t toggle open <on/off>.
To join an open town, you have to run the command /t join <town>
Towns can be toggled as public or private (Toggled private by default). Having a public town allows everyone to teleport to your town's spawn, while having a private town only allows residents, national residents, and allies to teleport to your town.
You can toggle if your town is Public or Private with /t toggle public.
To teleport to a public towns spawn, you must type /t spawn (town name)
You may set a cost to teleport to your town spawn with /t set spawncost (amount)
All towns have a town bank which can store money. Money is acquired and deposited into the town bank from either a resident depositing money or town taxes being collected.
To set town taxes, mayors/co-mayors must run the command /t set taxes (percent).
There are separate Plot Types towns can configure. They can be configured by typing /t toggle <type> <on/off>.
You can also configure one singular plot with /plot toggle <type> <on/off>
PvP - Toggles whether players can PvP inside a plot
Fire - Toggles if fire can burn and spread inside a plot.
Explosions - Toggles if explosions can occur inside a plot.
Mobspawning - Toggles if mobs can spawn inside a plot.
Laws can be enforced inside your town, you can do this by giving users police roles with /t rank add <player> police.
Jail plots can be set anywhere inside a town with /plot set jail. You can set or remove jail cells with /plot jailcell (add/remove) (number).
To check jail cells/plots you can run the command /t jail list.
To imprison a users, type /jail <player> (length in hours) (jail plot number) (jail cell number)
To unjail a user run the command /unjail <player>.
Mayors can transfer their role and ownership of the town to a different user with /t set mayor <player>.
The previous mayor will lose all roles and management over the town.
Deleting a town will fully remove all data, residents, claims, and town money.
To delete a town, run the command /t delete, then /confirm.
Every town must have a Town Spawn, the standard town spawn is set at wherever you made the town, but can be changed using /t set spawn, and if you want to set the town spawn in a different townblock you can do /t set homeblock, then do the previous command listed /t set spawn. It is important to note that you may only deposit money into your town whilst you are standing in your homeblock, unless you have made a .
